Relocation to Florida: A Great Florida Moving Company Experience

By: Jennifer Strong

I can remember visiting Florida throughout my childhood. My grandparents had retired there, so each and every summer my family would pack up the car and make the long trek from Rochester to Cocoa Beach. Once there, we would waste very little time in getting in a very Floridian mood. The shoes were the first things to go, and we quickly donned our flip flops. Next, bathing suits became our daily attire. It was not uncommon to see us in and out of the pool more than once a day.

It's not surprising that I chose to move to Florida as an adult, as there were so many great childhood memories of the state. I always wanted to be one of those who got away with wearing shorts all year round, and not having to purchase and install snow tires on my car each year. I had been working hard and trying to find a way to move south, and finally my chance came. When my company offered me the chance to transfer to one of the southern plants, I wasted no time in accepting.

How I Got There

Even though I had wanted to do this for some time, the sudden thought that I had to move my entire house was overwhelming. Although I was being transferred, I still had to be at work on my scheduled days on top of packing and moving. While the company did give me moving money, I had to chose a method to relocate with, a company to use, and the price I was willing to pay. At first, it seemed like a whole lot of work. I started where any reasonable person would start, however, and I did a quick search online for a good Florida Moving Company.

As it turns out, my choices seemed to be endless. It was nice having the ability to pick up a truck rental in New York and drop it off in Florida, even if it did mean that I had to pack, load, and drive myself. Rather than my other options,I chose a great company that had high ratings and experience traveling between the states more than once each week. I contacted them as soon as I could, and requested that they visit my home to give me a quote.

Getting it Together

The company was at my house only two days later, where we discussed various issues with moving south to Florida. One of the major factors that we spoke about was something that only a Florida moving company would know a lot about, heat. The representative of the company was helpful in explaining many things, including the fact that wood furniture would have to be packed special to help prevent damage that the hot Florida sun might do to it. The back of the truck could get very hot, the representative explained, and many things can get easily damaged.

After speaking about the precautions that moving to Florida requires, we discussed how much I planned on moving. Since I was not taking any appliances, and I had very few pieces of furniture, the representative said that my move would be one of the simpler jobs that the company would ever get. Nevertheless, they provided me with a binding quote that we both signed. I only had to get packed in order to get prepared for moving day!

Fast Forward

I moved to Florida last year, and I was extremely pleased with the service that the New York to Florida moving company provided. I am now living my own little dream, wearing shorts in the winter time and donning the flip flops as soon as work is over each day. The tan did not take long to get into shape, and I am learning that sand is a perpetual part of life here. I don't think I could have done such a move on my own, and I will forever be thankful that I was able to find such a wonderful company to do business with.

To those who are considering a move in the near future to the wonderful Sunshine state, be sure to check out your companies before you invite them into your home. Always request a binding estimate like I did, and make sure to ask about things that may be specific to Florida and nowhere else in the country. It is easy to make it through your move in a great mindset if you are sure to plan for all of the aspects of the move.
